In this blog I will be sharing a little bit of how our latest cruise went and some of the beautiful spots we visited. If you are thinking about booking your first cruise or you already love cruising and need some new ideas on where to visit next, I got you! I promise to make it simple and get straight to the point, kind of.
Recently, my husband and I along with some friends took a cruise to the Western Caribbean stopping at three beautiful places, Belize, Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico. This was a last-minute trip and to be honest, I did not know what to expect, but it was so fun, so beautiful and we absolutely loved it!
Our first stop was Costa Maya in Quintana Roo, Mexico. We decided not to book an excursion for this specific stop because I had found a little spot near the cruise port named Mahahual. I did my research and this spot had everything I was looking for, beach, food, and small shops without being overly packed or saturated and the best part, free! It is actually a fairly new area for tourists coming down from the cruise ships. We took a short taxi ride from our cruise port to this little village. As we walked through, we saw beautiful rest areas with beach chairs, beach beds and restaurants right on the warm sand with gorgeous, crystal-clear water views. The food we had was absolutely delicious and fresh. It was hot and humid, but we were able to enjoy some fresh coconut water right out of the coconut. Also, the people there were so nice. They made us feel like we were the only ones there by giving us the best spot to lay back and relax. I would definitely go back!
Our second stop was Belize. Belize was so much fun, very upbeat and full of adventure! Even though I felt like we were a bit rushed, I must say I had a great time. We booked an excursion and took an hour and a half bus ride to a park where we did some zip lining and ate delicious authentic Belize food that looked homemade straight from someone’s kitchen. I absolutely loved it! We then had our tour guide take us tubing to some crystal caves that were absolutely impressive. At the end of the cave tour, we were given time to swim on our own. It was sooo refreshing! The place was so beautiful and filled with gorgeous dense trees and plants. If you are looking for an upbeat adventure, this place is for you!
Our last but not least and maaaybe my favorite stop was Cozumel, Mexico. I actually had visited Cozumel about seven years ago, but I believe it has gotten so much better. They have really done great things to the cruise port. We booked a private beach called Nachi Cocom that is only about fifteen minutes away from the port. This place was unbelievably beautiful and sooo relaxing. Fun fact, they only allow 130 people in per day, so I suggest you get you passes sooner than later! Your entrance includes all-inclusive drinks, an appetizer, lunch and dessert. The food was delicious! They also offer activities like snorkeling, boat rides and many other fun activities! Cozumel over all is beautiful, a bit busier and more touristy but definitely worth a visit.
I can go on and on because this trip was awesome, but I’ll leave it at that for now!
