One of the places my husband I went for our anniversary last year was Portland Oregon. It was such a fun, romantic and unforgettable experience! I want to share four things that you must try if you are planning to visit this beautiful place with your significant other. We visited early November, so we were able to enjoy amazing walks throughout the city with lots of fall colors that were still in full effect, which was incredibly beautiful. It was pretty chilly but sunny, so it was perfect. I would totally encourage anyone to visit in the fall if you want the beautiful views and cozy romantic fall experience.
Here are four things my husband and I did and absolutely loved!
I must say it’s so hard to choose but if we had to, our favorite experience was definitely having coffee and hot chocolate at the gorgeous Multnomah Falls. The mesmerizing view of this beautiful and giant fall with its full of pine trees trail, breathing their fresh air is definitely an experience you must do with your loved one. It allowed us to connect with each other and with nature in such a different and peaceful way. It was a dream come true!
Our second activity we absolutely loved was having pizza up by the Hood River in this little cozy spot called Solstice Wood Fire Pizza. Their pizza, salad and dessert were a ten out of ten! We decided to take dessert to-go for our drive up to a Mt. Hood overlook that was absolutely breathtaking. We were able to admire the volcano from afar full of snow, we even got a little snow where we were too, which was such a nice surprise! The peace and quiet was out of this world. The feeling of us being the only ones up there, watching the sunset as gorgeous little snowflakes fell on us was truly romantic.
The city was fascinating, very unique and charming. We were able to enjoy a romantic and relaxing lunch cruise in downtown Portland. They served delicious butter bread and a pretty and yummy hot chocolate drink. Their tables were so nicely set up and there was a sweet lady playing beautifully at the piano. At some point there was a singer singing to all the couples on board. The views while enjoying our lunch were amazing. We did have to pay extra to get a window table, but it was one hundred percent worth it! We then went ahead and enjoyed the views up on the deck where you could hear a guide explain some historial points and hear him talk about their famous bridges. Let me just tell you, I felt like I was in another country. The trees in all the different colors, the mountain tops you could see from afar and fancy mansions along the river were all just breathtaking. The lunch cruise was definitely worth it and I would love to do it again one day!
Lastly, one of our nights there we decided to walk to a Chinese Restaurant close to our hotel. We agreed that it was definitely one of the best Chinese food we’ve ever had. Their orange chicken was juicy and delicious and their lo mein was perfect. We ended ordering a bit too much food thinking the plates were small. They were extremely generous with the portions that we ended up taking some back to our hotel. It worked out perfectly because the next night we were so tired and decided to stay in and relax. We ended up having the best night in, cuddling, watching Netflix and eating our delicious left-over Chinese food!
