The two morning smoothies you need this summer!

Chocolate Smoothie

Do you ever find yourself craving something sweet first thing in the morning? I know I do! We know that breakfast or your first meal of the day is super important! There are tons of delicious, sweet breakfasts out there, but are they the best choice to actually nourish your body and have an energized rest of the day?

Here are two super simple, healthy, nutritious smoothies that taste just like dessert and are a perfect way to fuel your body first thing in the morning!

Why do I love this chocolate smoothie?

If you can sneak in your veggies, your healthy fats and ingredients that your body actually needs into a drink that tastes just like a chocolate muffin, I’ll take it!

  • 1 tbsp of raw cacao powder
  • 1 scoop protein powder of your choice
  • frozen avocado chunks (about 4 pieces) or 1/2 tbsp of peanut butter
  • 1/2 banana (frozen or not)
  • 1 cup unsweetened plant milk (I like the 3 ingredients only almond milk)
  • dash of raw maple syrup (optional for extra sweetness)
  • dash of cinnamon
  • Top off with a few blueberries for extra goodness!

If you’re not into chocolate, I got you!

  • 1 cup unsweetened plant milk (I like almond)
  • plant based vanilla protein powder (1 or 2 scoops, depending on your goals)
  • handful of spinach
  • handful of kale
  • a few pineapple chunks (frozen or not)

This beautiful green, tropical, morning smoothie is not only delicious but it’s a great source of energy! The beauty of this smoothie is that you get your sweets while still getting in you greens and protein.

Tips:

  • You can add your favorite protein powder for a denser and filling morning smoothie.
  • You can always swap your plant milk for water for a less dense smoothie.
  • You can add flax seeds or chia seeds if you would like more fiber and thicker smoothie.
